  • Example: polychromatic: adj. having many colors
  • Sentence: The polychromatic coat with all of its clashing colors confused my eyes.

  • Example: exhume: v. to dig up a body
  • Sentence: The police exhumed the body in order to investigate the cause of death.

  • Example: omnivorous: adj. eating both plants and animals
  • Sentence: Human beings are omnivorous and are capable of eating things like cheese, meat, fruit, and Doritos. I really like french fries.

6. Fort: strong

  • Sample: To fortify my snow fort I watered it lightly in the evening and then let it freeze overnight. It was so cool!

7. Fortuna: chance
  • Example: fortuitous: adj. happening by chance; accidental
  • Sentence: It was fortuitous that I found a five dollar bill in the street just as I passed McDonalds. I went in and ordered some tasty french fries.

8. Flect: bend
  • Example: deflect: v. to bend or turn to the side
  • Sentence: When I was a little boy I used to pretend that I was a superhero and could deflect bullets and lasers from myself with an invisible force field.

9. Hyper: excessive
  • Example: hypochondriac: n. a person who is abnormally concerned about his health
  • Sentence: My Uncle, a hypochondriac has had about forty heart attacks now, all of them imagined.

10. Ultima: last

  • Example: ultimatum: n. final offer (or else!)
  • Sentence: She walked into class and offered the noisy students an ultimatum: no more talking or they would have to clean the gum from underneath the desks with a toothpick.
